Often times previous surgery to the breast, abdomen and other areas can leave unsightly scars. These scar tissues can cause pain, discomfort or just a poor self-image. Stitch granulomas, chronic wound infections and keloids can easily be treated with simple scar revision surgery. Breast cancer can sometimes recur in old breast surgical wounds; we call this scar recurrence. If your specialist is suspicious about a scar recurrence the scar will be biopsied to confirm the diagnosis. Recurrence of breast cancer in old scar tissue can be easily treated surgically.
